Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday asserted that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is not a separate political party but effectively a branch organisation of the BJP, accusing the saffron party of dominating its former ally. He made the remarks while speaking at the Indian Communist Party’s centenary celebrations, alleging that the BJP has extended its influence over AIADMK and other regional outfits.
Stalin criticised the BJP for what he described as attempts to centralise authority, undermine federal principles and marginalise voices opposing its ideology. He said the party’s actions threaten India’s diverse social fabric and accused the BJP of manipulating alliances for political gain.
The Chief Minister’s comments come amid heightened political activity ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where the AIADMK is contesting in alliance with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
