In a recent panel discussion held in Chennai, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), General Secretary of the AIADMK, clarified the stance of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
EPS emphasised that members of the NDA are not demanding a share in the future state government, countering widespread speculation about power–sharing within the alliance.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier stated that if the NDA wins the election, it would form the government in the state — a comment that stirred political discussions across Tamil Nadu. In response, EPS stated that there is no question of seeking ministerial positions or a share in governance from within the alliance, and that none of the NDA partners have raised such demands.
His remarks reflect ongoing negotiations and balancing within the alliance, which combines the AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with other smaller allies in their bid to challenge the ruling DMK in the state elections.
While some leaders from the BJP have suggested the possibility of an NDA government, EPS has underscored that the AIADMK is leading the coalition’s campaign and there is currently no formal seat–sharing or power–sharing agreement in place.
