Actor-politician and leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Vijay has sharply criticised M. K. Stalin for his handling of the ongoing fishermen arrest issue, saying simply writing letters has not delivered results.
Vijay accused the state government of relying on correspondence with the Union government rather than pushing for concrete action to secure the release of Tamil Nadu fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan Navy in recent incidents.
He said that TVK, unlike the ruling party, will pursue lasting solutions to the recurring problem that affects coastal livelihoods.
His comments come amid continued concerns over repeated arrests of fishermen by Sri Lankan authorities, a matter for which Chief Minister Stalin has written to the Ministry of External Affairs seeking diplomatic intervention.
