The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that a new low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal today. This system is expected to gradually become more organised and could influence weather patterns along the Tamil Nadu coast over the coming days.
The IMD says that as the low-pressure area develops, conditions in the region will become favourable for increased cloudiness and rainfall. Coastal districts may experience moderate to heavy showers, while interior areas can expect isolated rainfall and thunderstorms.
Authorities have asked residents, especially those in low-lying and coastal regions, to stay updated on weather developments and exercise caution, as the system’s progress could bring sudden changes in wind and rain intensity.
The development comes amid the active pre-monsoon season, and further updates will be provided as the system evolves.
