Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran has dismissed reports of alliance talks between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor-politician Vijay, describing them as “completely baseless rumours.”
Speaking to reporters in Kumbakonam, Nagenthran said claims that the BJP was holding discussions with TVK about forming an electoral alliance were false and unfounded.
“There are rumours that the BJP is holding alliance talks with TVK. That is just a rumour… a rumour,” he said, putting an end to speculation surrounding possible political negotiations between the two parties.
The BJP leader also clarified that the party had no connection with reports about a CBI summons linked to political developments and denied that any pressure was being exerted on TVK regarding alliance decisions.
Nagenthran further stated that seat-sharing discussions with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had not yet begun. He added that the public would be informed once formal negotiations commence.
Political speculation about a possible BJP–TVK tie-up has circulated for months as parties prepare for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, but leaders from both sides have repeatedly denied such reports.
Earlier, Vijay had also described the BJP as his “ideological opponent”, reinforcing his party’s stance against aligning with the saffron party.
