Amid concerns over a possible LPG shortage in parts of the country, the Central government has said there is no need for panic, adding that the situation is being closely monitored.
Officials said steps have already been taken to stabilise supply, including increasing domestic LPG production by around 10 per cent and directing oil refineries to operate at full capacity. Authorities are also monitoring distribution to prevent hoarding and ensure steady availability of cooking gas.
The government has also revised gas allocation priorities, ensuring that LPG, CNG and piped cooking gas for households receive top priority amid disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia.
Concerns about LPG availability grew after the ongoing conflict in the Middle East disrupted energy supply routes, affecting the availability of commercial cylinders used by hotels and restaurants in several cities.
However, officials maintain that India has diversified its energy sources and continues to secure supplies from multiple countries, ensuring that domestic consumers do not face a major shortage.
The Centre said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and take further measures if required to maintain uninterrupted LPG supply across the country.
