Bengaluru, Mar 28:
The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) officially takes off today at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, as defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in a much-anticipated season opener.
This yearâs IPL features 10 city-based franchises battling it out across 12 venues, marking the most extensive schedule in league history with 74 matches. The format ensures more thrilling contests and the possibility of unexpected upsets, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats from March through May.
SRH, eager to bounce back after finishing sixth last season, come into the match with a revamped leadership. In the absence of the injured Pat Cummins, explosive opener Ishan Kishan will lead the side. RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, enjoy a slight edge at home with Kohli back in action.
