Dubai, Mar 30:

Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched their first missile attack on Israel since the war began, with Israel saying it intercepted the projectile.

The conflict, now a month old, started after US and Israeli strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory attacks across Israel and Gulf states.

It has disrupted global air travel, driven up fuel prices, and threatened key trade routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel recently struck Iranian nuclear facilities in Arak and Yazd, calling it a major setback to Iran’s nuclear programme. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks, including strikes on Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base, where more than two dozen US troops were injured over the past week.

Fighting intensified with missile exchanges between Iran, Israel, and Hezbollah, causing explosions in cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Israeli strikes also hit Tehran, while casualties continue to rise across the region, with thousands reported dead in Iran and Lebanon.

The Houthis’ involvement raises concerns about renewed attacks on Red Sea shipping, a vital global trade route.

Meanwhile, the US is reinforcing its military presence, deploying Marines and paratroopers, though it says ground troops are not planned.
Diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia seeking to mediate.

Iran has rejected US ceasefire proposals but agreed to allow humanitarian and agricultural shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, offering limited relief amid escalating tensions.
