Coimbatore, Apr 18:
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led NDA, alleging that the Centre had failed to sanction funds for the Coimbatore Metro Rail project.
Addressing a campaign rally in Coimbatore, he said the alliance would “pay the price” for neglecting the region’s infrastructure needs and urged voters to ensure a victory for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its allies in all ten constituencies in the district.
Udhayanidhi credited Minister V. Senthilbalaji for strengthening the party’s presence in western Tamil Nadu, asserting that the region has become a DMK stronghold.
Framing the election as a contest between the “Delhi team” and the “Tamil Nadu team,” he called on voters to reject the Centre’s influence in the state.
Earlier, speaking in Tiruppur, he said only a DMK government could ensure industrial growth and safeguard workers’ livelihoods, while accusing the Centre of withholding funds for key sectors like education and development.
