Chennai, May 15:
In a sharp political escalation, M. K. Stalin has warned that the government led by C. Joseph Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam “may collapse at any time,” signalling rising instability in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
Addressing party leaders after the DMK’s electoral setback, Stalin described the situation as volatile and urged cadre to remain prepared for a possible early election.
The warning comes even as the newly formed TVK government has already faced criticism over its fragile majority. Opposition leaders have repeatedly pointed out that the government depends on outside support and post-poll alignments, raising questions about its durability.
Stalin also used the moment for introspection, calling the election loss a “political tsunami” and announcing the formation of a high-level committee to analyse what went wrong within the DMK. The panel is expected to consult party workers across the state and recommend corrective measures, including possible disciplinary action.
At the same time, he accused the ruling party of compromising on its promise of clean politics, alleging that the government’s formation involved questionable political manoeuvres.
