Chennai, May 20:

Thirumavalavan on Wednesday said the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) will hold internal discussions on the renewed invitation from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to join the State Cabinet.

He said the TVK leadership had assured him that rebel All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLAs would not be included in the Ministry, addressing VCK’s earlier concerns.

Thirumavalavan noted that a majority of the party’s high-level committee members had supported joining the government during a recent meeting, though the final decision would rest with the leadership after further consultations.

He reiterated that the VCK had extended unconditional support to the TVK government during its formation and had not demanded ministerial positions despite limited electoral strength.

The VCK chief added that both his party and the Indian Union Muslim League have now been formally invited to join the Ministry, making internal consultations essential before arriving at a final decision.

He also recalled that TVK president C Joseph Vijay had earlier extended an open invitation to the VCK during a public event, which the party viewed as a clear political signal despite not joining the alliance during the elections.

Emphasising that participation in governance is an important aspect of political ideology, Thirumavalavan said the VCK would carefully weigh its options before taking a final call, keeping in mind both its principles and the current political situation in the State.
