Peshawar, June 10:
Six Frontier Constabulary personnel were killed and four others injured after Taliban militants attacked a security check post in Hassan Khel, about 30 km southwest of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan.
Officials said the militants attempted to seize the Federal Constabulary post on Monday, but security personnel mounted a strong response, leading to an intense gun battle. Security forces successfully repelled the assault and killed eight militants.
Following the attack, additional troops were deployed to the area, a security cordon was established, and a clearance operation was launched to eliminate any remaining militants.
In a separate incident near Peshawar’s Mattani area, militants attacked the Kishan Ganga check post, abducting two security personnel. The attackers used heavy weapons, destroyed four vehicles, and bombed the post building.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attacks through its spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan.
