Chennai, June 12:
The Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker has issued notices seeking explanations from four MLAs—Maragatham, Kumaravel, Sathyabama, and Isakki Subbiah—after they resigned from their posts and joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Following their resignation, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, through party leader Agri Krishnamurthy, submitted a petition to the Speaker seeking disqualification proceedings against the legislators.
Acting on the request, the Speaker’s office has now sent formal notices to the MLAs, directing them to submit their explanations within seven days.
Officials said further action, including the decision on disqualification, will be taken based on their responses. Speaker JCD Prabhakaran reportedly stated that the matter will proceed as per established legislative procedures.
