Chennai, June 13:
In a major step towards modernizing public healthcare services, the Tamil Nadu government is planning to introduce an online outpatient (OP) ticket booking system across government hospitals. The initiative aims to eliminate long queues and improve patient convenience.
According to Health Minister Arunraj, patients will soon be able to book their OP appointments in advance through a dedicated mobile application. The system will require Aadhaar details for registration, enabling a seamless and efficient booking process before visiting the hospital.
The move is expected to significantly reduce waiting times, which has long been a concern in government healthcare facilities. By allowing patients to schedule appointments in advance, the government hopes to streamline outpatient services and reduce overcrowding in hospitals.
The digital initiative is likely to benefit a wide range of people, particularly senior citizens, working professionals, and persons with disabilities, who often face challenges due to long waiting hours.
Officials stated that the new system is part of the state’s broader efforts to enhance healthcare delivery through technology and improve overall patient experience. The online OP booking facility is expected to be rolled out soon.
With this step, Tamil Nadu continues to strengthen its commitment to accessible, efficient, and patient-friendly healthcare services.
