New Delhi, June 18:
The BJP on Wednesday claimed that neither the public nor his allies have confidence in Rahul Gandhi, after DMK mouthpiece ‘Murasoli’ reportedly accused the Congress leader of weakening the unity of the opposition INDIA bloc.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said the criticism by the DMK reflected a growing discontent among the opposition parties over Gandhi’s leadership, and claimed that the Congress leader has become a “political liability”.
An editorial published in the DMK mouthpiece Murasoli on Monday accused Gandhi of undermining the alliance partners and weakening the opposition unity.
“The DMK has launched an all-out attack on Rahul Gandhi, calling him politically immature. Nobody has faith or trust in Rahul Gandhi. The Congress uses and throws away its allies,” Poonawalla said in a video statement.

Referring to recent strains within the opposition alliance, he alleged that several INDIA bloc constituents have raised concerns about Gandhi’s leadership.
“Old friends have now become new and real enemies. Be it the DMK and what they did to them in the Tamil Nadu elections, be it the TMC, the Left, Uddhav Sena or the RJD, all have expressed dissatisfaction,” he claimed.
Poonawalla also alleged that at a recent INDIA bloc meeting, its constituents questioned Gandhi’s leadership and expressed reservations about working under him.
