Chennai, Aug 6:
S. P. Velumani, K. P. Anbalagan and C. V. Shanmugam—considered dissident MLAs within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam—met Water Resources Minister N. Anand at the Secretariat on Thursday, triggering fresh political speculation.
The meeting comes amid ongoing tensions in the party after Edappadi K. Palaniswami recently assigned new responsibilities to the leaders. However, the trio has publicly declined to accept the posts, stating they would prefer to remain as ordinary party workers.
Sources indicate that the dissident MLAs have also been avoiding direct meetings with Palaniswami, further highlighting the internal discord within the party.
In this backdrop, their visit to Minister Anand’s office while attending the Assembly session has drawn significant attention in political circles. Observers view the development as a potentially important signal amid the evolving dynamics within the AIADMK.
No official statement has been released regarding the purpose of the meeting.
