Jhansi, Aug 6:
Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, was killed in a road accident on Thursday after the car he was travelling in crashed into a divider near Jhansi.

According to police, the accident occurred around 10:30 am when the SUV—reported to be a white Hyundai Creta—lost control and rammed into a road divider on the highway. Aban was travelling with friends at the time of the incident.

Two people, including Aban and another occupant identified as Sonu, died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. Three others who were in the vehicle sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby medical college hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Police officials said Aban was on his way to Jhansi to meet his brother, who is lodged in jail there. Senior Superintendent of Police B.B.G.T.S. Murthy confirmed that information about the accident was received in the morning, following which emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

Aban Ahmed was one of five sons of Atiq Ahmed. His family has been in the spotlight due to multiple criminal cases and high-profile incidents over the years. Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in April 2023 in Prayagraj while being escorted by police for a medical check-up—an incident that was widely reported across the country.

Among Aban’s siblings, Umar Ahmed is currently lodged in Lucknow jail, while Ali Ahmed is in Jhansi jail. Another brother, Asad, was killed in a police encounter in 2023. One sibling, Ahzam, is reported to be out of custody.

Authorities have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the crash may have occurred due to loss of control by the driver, though officials have not ruled out other factors.

The tragic incident adds another chapter to the turbulent history surrounding Atiq Ahmed’s family, drawing significant public and media attention.
