Chennai, Aug 7:
To manage the surge in weekend travel, the Tamil Nadu transport department will operate 1,805 special buses from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus and other key hubs over the next three days.
The additional services by TNSTC and SETC will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, catering to passengers travelling from Chennai to major destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari.
Officials said 430 extra buses will be operated on Friday and 465 on Saturday, apart from regular services. For the return journey, 410 special buses will run from various districts to Chennai on Sunday.
With over 8,500 passengers already booking tickets for Friday, authorities expect heavy demand. Special officers have been deployed at bus terminals to monitor operations and assist commuters, ensuring smooth and hassle-free travel during the weekend rush.
