One Man is less a conventional movie and more an extraordinary filmmaking experiment driven by the passion, patience and determination of Sankagiri Rajkumar.

What makes the film stand out is the sheer scale of Rajkumar’s involvement. He has reportedly handled almost every department himself — writing, acting, cinematography, editing, dubbing, graphics, animation, 3D modelling, colour correction, music and direction. The film is said to have taken nearly six years to develop, making the project as much a story of perseverance as it is a cinematic venture.

The plot follows four friends who get lost in a forest and stumble upon a shut-down chemical factory, opening the door to an adventure filled with mystery and challenges. Rajkumar also takes on multiple characters, creating an unusual cinematic world almost single-handedly.

The biggest strength of One Man is undoubtedly its ambition. Cinema is normally a collective art involving hundreds of people across different departments. Rajkumar challenges that established model and demonstrates how technology, determination and a willingness to learn can allow an individual filmmaker to attempt something remarkably ambitious.

Naturally, the film has moments where the technical execution may not match the polish of a conventional big-budget production. But judging the film purely by those limitations would miss the larger achievement. The real fascination lies in understanding how one person managed to conceptualise, execute and complete such a demanding project.

Rajkumar’s earlier films, including Vengayam and Bioscope, have already showcased his interest in experimenting with the medium. One Man takes that spirit several steps further.

The film is ultimately a celebration of filmmaking itself. It proves that cinema does not always have to begin with a huge budget, a star cast or a massive production team. Sometimes, it begins with one person, one idea and an unwavering determination to turn that idea into reality.

One Man may not be flawless, but its uniqueness and the extraordinary effort behind it make it an interesting watch, particularly for aspiring independent filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts.
