Chennai, Aug 24: DMK president M.K. Stalin on Monday criticised the Tamil Nadu government, saying a political change brought about by youngsters unaware of history had turned into disappointment.
Speaking at the wedding of Amirtham, managing director of Kalaignar TV, at a convention centre in Thiruvanmiyur, Stalin said the State’s progress in education and social development was the result of the Dravidian movement.
“An error committed by lakhs of people is causing hardship to crores today,” Stalin said, urging people to think carefully and act in the future.
Referring to the political change in the State, he said, “A change has taken place in Tamil Nadu and it has turned into disappointment,” and stressed the need for young people to understand the history behind the State’s social transformation.
Earlier, DMK deputy general secretary A. Raja criticised the ruling side and claimed that some ministers were making remarks about whitewashing the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, and renting it out.
Poet Vairamuthu recalled Amirtham’s association with former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and praised his contribution to Tamil cinema.
The wedding was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, T.R. Baalu, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and others.
