Doha, Aug 28:

Qatar and other regional powers have intensified efforts to find a diplomatic exit from the Iran conflict after another tanker attack in the Strait of Hormuz heightened fears of a wider escalation across West Asia.

The latest incident involved an oil tanker reportedly struck by an unknown projectile in waters between Oman and Iran. The vessel caught fire, though its crew was reported safe and there were no immediate reports of environmental damage.

The attack has added urgency to regional diplomatic efforts, with Qatar seeking to revive channels of communication and reduce the risk of further military escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical flashpoint because of its importance to global energy supplies and international shipping. Repeated attacks and disruptions in the waterway have raised concerns over oil markets and maritime security.

At the same time, Israel continued military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, adding further pressure to an already volatile regional situation. Iran has also rejected fresh sanctions pressure from Washington.

The simultaneous crises have created a complex diplomatic challenge for Qatar and other regional powers seeking to prevent the Iran conflict from triggering a broader and potentially prolonged regional war.
