MUMBAI, Sept 3:
Veteran social activist Anna Hazare’s health condition has improved and he is taking proper meals following medical advice, his close associate said on Wednesday.
The 89-year-old activist will remain admitted at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai for another two days under observation, according to his aide Datta Awari.
Hazare was admitted to the hospital on Monday night after blood tests indicated a renal infection. He had initially been treated at a medical facility in Ahilyanagar before being shifted to Mumbai.
Consultant physician Dr Gautam Bhansali said on Tuesday that Hazare was stable and recovering.
Awari said Hazare’s family and associates wanted him to make a full recovery before returning to his native Ralegan Siddhi village. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil visited him in hospital and enquired about his health.
Hazare, a Padma Bhushan recipient, has led several campaigns focusing on rural development, transparency in governance and combating corruption.
