AMARAVATI, Sept 3:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Endowments Department to expedite the construction of 5,000 temples across the State and finalise sites for the projects at the earliest.
During a review meeting, TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravi Chandra said proposals had been received for 4,192 temples from 161 constituencies in 28 districts, while 967 temples had already been completed.
The temples will be constructed in three categories, with priority given to SC and ST colonies, fishermen settlements, weaker sections’ colonies and general areas. Naidu suggested using funds from the Srivani Trust for temple construction and religious programmes.
He also directed officials to restore 1,000 ancient temples, with special attention to Shiva temples and Shakti Peethas. He called for comprehensive digitisation of temple details and better planning for managing the State’s 28,000 Endowments Department temples, 65 TTD temples and the proposed new temples.
Naidu also proposed expanding TTD’s spiritual, educational, healthcare and charitable programmes and suggested developing Lord Venkateswara temples in the capitals of other States and in countries seeking such facilities.
