Hyderabad, Sept 4:
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to drop Forest Minister Konda Surekha from his Cabinet, amid a political controversy surrounding remarks made by her daughter against the Chief Minister and other Congress leaders.
Reddy forwarded his recommendation to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla seeking Surekha’s removal from the Council of Ministers. The Governor subsequently approved the decision.
The action followed a recommendation from the state Congress disciplinary panel for stringent action against the minister.
The development comes amid differences within the ruling Congress and a controversy over social media remarks attributed to Surekha’s daughter, which reportedly targeted the Chief Minister and other party leaders.
Surekha had been serving as the Forest Minister in the Revanth Reddy government. Her removal is expected to trigger fresh political discussions within the Telangana Congress over discipline and internal differences.
The Chief Minister’s decision to seek her removal marks a significant action against a serving Cabinet colleague and comes as the Congress leadership seeks to maintain discipline within the ruling party.
