Director Era Saravanan is set to return with Nandhan 2, a sequel to his 2024 social drama Nandhan, with the makers officially announcing the project.
The sequel will once again be helmed by Era Saravanan, while details regarding the cast and the story are being kept under wraps. It is also yet to be confirmed whether Sasikumar, who played the lead role in the first film, will return for the sequel.
Nandhan 2 will have Nivas K Prasanna as its composer. He replaces Ghibran, who composed the music for the first film.
The makers have indicated that the story has more to tell, describing the sequel as a continuation of a journey and a question that is still waiting for an answer. However, the exact plot of Nandhan 2 has not yet been revealed.
The original Nandhan centred on Koozh Paana, played by Sasikumar, a Dalit labourer in a Tamil Nadu village who becomes a panchayat president after the post is reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate. Despite occupying the elected position, he continues to face discrimination from dominant-caste groups.
The makers are expected to announce the complete cast and crew of Nandhan 2 in the coming days.
