Islamabad, Sept 23:
Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has said the country’s armed forces remain determined to defeat terrorism, as Pakistan continues to face militant attacks in several parts of the country.
Munir said the armed forces would continue their efforts against terrorist groups and would not allow militants to undermine the country’s security.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in militant violence in recent years, particularly in areas bordering Afghanistan. Security forces have carried out repeated operations against militant groups blamed for attacks on military personnel, police and civilians.
The army chief’s remarks came amid continuing security concerns and calls for stronger action against militant organisations operating inside and around Pakistan.
Pakistani authorities have repeatedly said that terrorism poses a major challenge to the country’s internal security and economic development. Islamabad has also raised concerns over militant activity allegedly originating from Afghanistan, an allegation disputed by Afghan authorities.
The Pakistan military has maintained that its counter-terrorism operations will continue until the threat posed by armed groups is eliminated.
