Chennai, Oct 2:
The Greater Chennai Corporation has relaunched its 40-day awareness campaign to encourage residents in south Chennai to segregate waste at source.
The campaign, titled ‘Segregate Waste – Save Tomorrow’, began on Thursday and will cover households in the southern region of the city.
The initiative was originally launched on August 22 but was temporarily paused to ensure that the targeted households were covered and arrangements for distribution of waste-segregation bags were completed.
Corporation officials are expected to focus on creating awareness among residents about separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste before handing it over to conservancy workers.
The campaign is part of the civic body’s efforts to improve source-level segregation and streamline solid waste management in Chennai.
