A new production venture, Thiyagaraja Talkies, promoted by Thiyaga Kurinchiselvan and Dr R Vijayalakshmi, was launched on Monday, marking their entry into the Tamil film industry as producers. The launch event was attended by several leading personalities from the film industry, who extended their wishes to the new production house and its maiden project.
Director Sundar C spoke about his close association with Kurinchiselvan and said he was particularly happy about the new venture. âI have a very big circle, and among them, Kurunji is very special to me. I am very happy that he has started this production house,â he said. Advising the director of the first film, Sundar C said there was a big responsibility ahead and wished the entire team success in its long journey.
Producer Ishari K Ganesh said he shared a special connection with the venture as he too had named his production house after his father, Vels, while Kurinchiselvan had chosen the name Thiyagaraja in honour of his father. âWhoever respects their parents will go to great heights,â he said. He added that Kurinchiselvan should have entered film production much earlier and cautioned that production was a challenging field where one had to be extremely careful.
Actor Jai, who is part of the first film from Thiyagaraja Talkies, thanked everyone for attending the launch despite their busy schedules. Recalling his association with Kurinchiselvan, whom he fondly called âJapan Kurunji annaâ, Jai said he was happy to be part of the maiden production. He added that the success of the venture would encourage more directors to create films and take their stories to audiences.
Actor Soori, who described the family as being very close to him, said Kurinchiselvan knew people across different fields and that he was delighted when he heard about the production venture. He assured his continued support and wished Thiyagaraja Talkies more than 100 hit films. Soori also congratulated Jai, recalling that he had first seen the actor about 20 years ago and joking that Jai continued to look the same.
