Actor Dhanush has personally congratulated athlete Vithya Ramraj for her impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where she won three medals for India.
Vithya won gold in the women’s 4x400m relay, silver in the mixed 4x400m relay and bronze in the 400m hurdles. She also created history by breaking legendary athlete P T Usha’s 42-year-old national record in the 400m hurdles with a timing of 54.75 seconds.
Dhanush invited Vithya to meet him in person and congratulated her on her achievements. The actor’s gesture comes amid widespread appreciation for the athlete following her historic campaign at the Asian Games.
Vithya was earlier felicitated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and Sports Minister Aadhav Arjuna. The State government also announced financial assistance in recognition of her achievements.
Vithya’s performance has made her one of the prominent faces of Indian athletics, while her record-breaking run has also renewed attention on the legacy of P T Usha and the growing contribution of Tamil Nadu athletes to Indian sport.
