Chennai, Oct 7:

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has issued the notification for the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV, popularly known as the Group 4 examination, to fill 6,574 vacancies in various government departments.

According to the notification, applications opened on October 6 and candidates can submit their applications until November 5. The written examination has been scheduled for January 10, 2027. The official TNPSC notification confirms that the examination is Notification No. 11/2026.

The Group 4 recruitment covers several posts, including Junior Assistant, Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Bill Collector, Typist, Steno-Typist and other posts included in the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV.

Among the vacancies are 291 posts of Village Administrative Officer and 422 posts of Bill Collector, Level III, carrying the pay scale of Rs 19,500 to Rs 62,000. The total number of vacancies notified under the recruitment is 6,574.

The examination will be held on January 10, 2027. According to the notification details, the examination will be conducted from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Candidates seeking government employment through the Group 4 examination will have to submit their applications through the TNPSC’s online application system. The last date for submitting applications and making the prescribed payment is November 5.

The recruitment notification is expected to attract a large number of aspirants across Tamil Nadu, particularly candidates seeking entry-level government jobs. Group 4 examinations traditionally draw considerable interest because they offer opportunities in several departments and include posts for which the minimum educational qualification is generally at the secondary-school level, subject to the specific requirements of individual posts.

The notification comes after TNPSC’s earlier Group 4 recruitment cycle, which involved a separate set of vacancies and subsequent additions. The Commission’s records show that the previous Group 4 recruitment had vacancies added through amendments and addenda after the original notification.

Candidates have been advised to carefully read the detailed notification before applying, particularly the educational qualifications, age requirements, reservation provisions, post-specific qualifications and other eligibility conditions.

The release of the notification is expected to provide a major opportunity for government-job aspirants who have been preparing for competitive examinations. With thousands of posts available across different categories, coaching centres and aspirant groups are expected to begin detailed preparation for the January examination.

The TNPSC has made the notification and online application facility available through its official examination portal. Candidates should rely on the Commission’s notification for the latest information on eligibility, syllabus, examination pattern and application procedures.
