Chennai, Oct 26:
The Chennai City police has registered an eighth POCSO case against tainted bizman R.Veeramani of Gem Granites, who arrested and jailed for sexually assaulting several juvenile girls.
A police release said based on a complaint and after obtaining statement from one more victim, police slapped the eigth POCSO case on him.
With the slapping of one more POCSO case against Veeramani, the number of cases rose to eight. He was also booked for abetting the suicide of a minor girl (also POCSO charges invoked) who took the extreme step after being sexually assaulted by him, taking the total cases to nine.
Two days back, Archana Veeramani, daughter of the bizman, was deboarded from a Singapore-bound aircraft and detained at the Chennai airport by the police and questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the POCSO cases, in connection with the large scale financial transactions, running to several crores, that took place to shield Veeramani from the case.
So far eight people were arrested in connection with the POCSO cases registered against Veeramani.
