Dhaka, Oct 31:
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) in Bangladesh has dismissed seven employees, including three Hindu teachers and two other Hindu staff members, over alleged disciplinary violations and other irregularities.
The decision was taken at the university’s 115th syndicate meeting, according to Registrar Engineer Anichur Rahman Bhuiyan.
Those dismissed include Professor Pintu Chandra Shil of the Computer Science and Engineering department, Professor Subrata Talapatra of the Industrial Engineering and Management department, and Assistant Professor Nibir Mondal of the Energy Science and Engineering department.
The other two Hindu employees named in reports are Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry and office assistant Satyajit Kumar Dutta. Two additional employees were also dismissed.
The development comes amid concerns over the treatment of minority communities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh. Recent incidents reported from the country include the killing of a Hindu man in Mymensingh district and attacks on houses belonging to Hindu families in Rangpur district.
