Chennai, Nov 2
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is scheduled to visit Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district on November 14 to participate in a Children’s Day programme at a government school. He is expected to interact with students and distribute cakes as part of the State-wide celebrations.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to distribute cakes to students and teachers in government and government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu on the occasion. The government has allocated Rs 9.27 crore for the initiative, under which each student will receive a 45-gram piece of sponge cake. Following the tender process, four companies โ€” Britannia, Elite Naturals, ITC and Cream Cake โ€” have been selected to supply the cakes.
November 14 marks the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and is observed as Children’s Day. Schools traditionally organise cultural, literary and creative activities to mark the occasion.
Vijay is also scheduled to visit Viralimalai in Pudukkottai district on November 2 and attend a government programme at Perundurai in Erode district on November 3.
