Chennai: At a time when Chennai is inching closer to a water crisis coming summer due to monsoon failure, sudden short spells revived hopes in the city today.

As the rains manifested in an already cool December climate, it made the ambiance even cooler and comfortable during today’s forenoon hours. Met department said such short spells will continue till the end of this month, including tomorrow.

A Met official, said, “Today’s short spells in city were due to transfer of moist winds into the coast. In the next 24 hours, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. As far as rest of Tamilnadu is considered, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at isolated places till this month end.”
