Every year, thousands of books get published but only a handful remain memorable as the words make us pause and observe the world in a whole new angle.

Several writers rocked the world with powerful narrative, ideas, wisdom as their creative skill left a spell across the literary kingdom. News Today brings a list of books that stood out.

‘Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones‘ by James Clear

As the title suggests, Atomic Habits helps to build new habits and break old ones. Accompanied by graphs, stats and laced with interesting anecdotes, James explains the science and the psychology of habits.

He writes, “All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision. But as that decision is repeated, a habit sprouts and grows stronger. Roots entrench themselves and branches grow. The task of breaking a bad habit is like uprooting a powerful oak within us. And the task of building a good habit is like cultivating a delicate flower one day at a time.”

James analyses habits and deconstructs them into four distinct aspects, and lucidly teaches how to develop new ones. What is really interesting about this book is that James stresses on the importance of creating smaller impacts; the everyday steps that are essential to achieve long-term success.

‘The Future of Humanity‘ by Michio Kaku

Michio Kaku is one of the finest theoretical physicists and futurists. This book is in a way a sequel the ‘Physics of the Impossible’ series.

Michio discusses how humans will thrive in Mars, adopt new technologies that will help us dive deeper into the cosmos. Most of the tech explained in the book is already in existence while some are taking their baby steps in the labs of reputed universities across the globe.

With rising thirst for billionaires to send humans to Mars, the book offers a detailed glimpse of how we might live one day in the red planet.

‘Origin Story: A brief history of everything‘ by David Christian

This is probably one of the best history books ever written. David unites the story of every species right from the very millionth of a second after the Big Bang, starting from the birth of the cosmos, our planet, the very first living organism, dinosaurs, and eventually us, homosapiens. With overwhelming stats and spot-on explanation on myriad topics, David makes us pause for a minute and appreciate how precious life is.

‘Flight or Fright‘ edited by Stephen King and Bev Vincent

A collection of short stories written by several renowned writers, the book offers chilling tales that take place several thousand feet way up in the air.

There is a story about a passenger who sees a man disrupting the panels of the wings. In another tale, a flight load dispatcher experiences something paranormal. Probably one of the best short stories to come out this year, it’s best not to read them on a flight.
