Chennai: Three women lost their gold chains to thieves in the city. A total of 48 sovereigns of gold was lost in separate incidents yesterday. According to the police, Roopa (48), a resident of Kolathur, was walking at Shanthi Nagar when two persons on a two-wheeler snatched her eight sovereign gold chain and fled. Subsequently, she lodged a complaint with the police.

In another case, Akhila, a resident of Villivakkam, was on her way to buy milk when bike-borne men snatched her gold chain worth 25 sovereigns. Inquiries are underway into the case. In another incident, Savitha, a resident of Virugambakkam lodged a complaint that she removed and kept her 15-soverign gold chain in her house which went missing.
