Chennai: More than 30 renowned and eminent chest Physicians/ pulmonologists attended one-day workshop on the application of Non- invasive ventilation in hospital and homecare environment organised by ResMed in the city recently. A press release said Non- invasive Ventilation is a newer way of providing pulmonary ventilation to a patient without a need to perform any invasive procedure. The ventilation is provided to the patient through mask and an air tube connected to the ventilator. It is recommended in various Respiratory diseases.
‘The workshop covered both theoretical and hands-on learning on the application of Non-invasive ventilation in various respiratory diseases including acute hypercapinc respiratory failure, acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, chronic respiratory failure,’ the release added. Chennai Chest Research Institute, respiratory clinical trials, director S Balamurugan, Apollo hospitals, department of emergency medicine, HOD, Dhavapalani Alagappan, Mehta hospitals, emergency medicine and medical superintendent Syed Ahmed Adil, Southern Railway Hospital pulmonologist and Intensivist Soumitra Sinha Roy spoke about Non- Invasive ventilation.
