Chennai: Angry DMDK cadres attempt to lay siege to DMK treasurer Durai Murugan’s house in Katpadi today as a sign of protest against his comments which they alleged insulted their party and its deputy secretary L K Sudhish.
A tense situation prevailed this morning as over 50 supporters of the Vjayakanth-led party marched towards Durai Muruagan’s house in Katpadi where he is the MLA. Upon hearing that DMDK supporters had amassed against Durai Murugan, DMK cadres too gathered in numbers too, ready for an altercation.
Police stopped both parties midway and the DMDK protestors staged a road roko blocking the Katpadi railway station road. Police resorted to using minimal force to disperse the crowd and a few protestors were arrested too.
On Thursday, Durai Murugan publicly rebuked DMDK for breaching their trust by holding talks with AIADMK at the time when they were negotiating with DMK for an alliance in the upcoming general elections. Durai Murugan said that Sudhish had called him seeking an alliance with DMK.
