Aakash G

For Aakash G, a resident of Thillaiganga Nagar, art was natural. On seeing his abilities even at the age of three, elated parents enrolled him to learn it formally from a professional. Eleven years later, he has grown to a greater level, that he designs professional logo.

In conversation with News Today, the artist, teacher and his parents share how it all started and what lies for him in years to come.

“When we gave him a chalkpiece, he did scribble but it had a sense of perfection unlike other kids which prompted us that he should learn the nuances instead of being an amateur artist,” his mother Latha says.

Right now he is specialising in watercolour painting and after mastering other art mediums and he believes he acquired the talent from his mother.

“As he has been practicing art since LKG without taking a break, his strokes are unmatchable and has carved a style for his identity,” his drawing teacher, Sai Namagiri shares.

When questioned what he likes to draw, Aakash says, “I love drawing cartoons and especially the Japanese animated series Dragon Ball Z.”

Though he has not taken part in major competitions, he has a lot in his kitty. About his first victory, he says, “There was a contest organised in my locality by a bakery store for promoting it. With no clue about creating a logo, I took part and won in junior-level.”

“In 2018, a popular paint and paint products manufacturing company had organised a promotional event where we were asked to create an imaginary superhero and my work was shortlisted in top 100 in Tamilnadu-level and received prizes for making it to the list,” recollects Aakash, a class eight student.

He has participated in several competitions that were held in a small-scale level and has been praised for his work. Along with other students, his paintings were displayed in an exhibition in 2017. His pieces of art are predominantly influenced by his reading lists and the what he watches. “When I read Harry Potter series, I was motivated to draw the characters or scenes and realised I derive inspiration from books and cartoons,” he adds.

Although he has been practicing art for several years, Aakash says his aspiration is to become an astronomer. “Despite my ambition being different, I will continue to paint no matter what,” he shares.

His mother says that he is a serious artist and would not budge when he is into it. “Though it is not his ambition, when he wants to create something, he moves on only when a completes even if the world is going to crumble apart,” says Latha.

He can be contacted at 9381005151.
