Father-son duo win trophies in inter-club table tennis tournament

C N Sridhar and his son Sharan Sridhar receiving trophies and certificates from Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali’s son Asif Ali, and Dronacharya-awardee Srinivasa Rao.

C N Sridhar, a resident of Ashok Nagar, and his son Sharan Sridhar, participated in the inter-club table tennis tournament conducted by TNCA Club recently.

The tournament saw teams from 14 clubs such as Madras Gymkhana Club, TNCA Club, Boat Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Mylapore Club, SVS Club, participating.

Sharan and his father Sridhar (both representing Madras Gymkhana Club) reached the finals in three events (Open Singles, Open Doubles and Team Championship). Sharan won gold in the Open Singles and his father settled for silver.

In the Open Doubles finals – the father and son combination lost to Jacob Rajkumar and Yukthee Roshini (both former State and National champions) – in a keenly contested game.

In the team event, Madras Gymkhana Club put up a good fight before going down to TNCA Club – to settle for silver.
The father and son received trophies and certificates from Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali’s son Asif Ali, and Dronacharya- awardee Srinivasa Rao.

Sridhar is an ex-cricketer and is currently pursuing Mechanics and Analytics, whereas Sharan, a class XII student of Amrita Vidhyalayam, Nesapakkam, is also passionate about chess and has won many cups and trophies in national and international tournaments.
