Bengaluru: IMA chief Mansoor Khan, who has been absconding since earlier this month released a video yesterday saying that he was willing to surrender and reveal some big names involved in the firm’s downfall. He also feared that he would be killed by them.
Enforcement Directorate had issued a summon to him three days ago.
In the 18-minute video addressed to City Commissioner Alok Kumar, he said, “I want to return to support the public and furnish all details before the police and am ready to cooperate with them. When I depose before the police and judiciary, I will disclose all names. They are not small names, but big. I am sure these people will not leave me alive.” He said that he wanted to return and shared his phone number through the video. He further went on to allege that some IMA managerial staff and politicians had back stabbed and harassed him, and so he was forced to hide his family members as well.
The 500 crore scam gained nationwide attention as people of Hyderabad, Tamilnadu and New Delhi, apart from Bengaluru and Karnataka, had invested in the company. It has left more than 40,000 investors in the lurch.
Khan who had absconded earlier this month had sent an audio clip to some investors threatening to commit suicide. He also alleged harassment by some politicians and rowdies in the audio.
He claimed in the video that he did not run a Ponzi scheme and 99 per cent of the people were spreading fake news on the firm.
It is also to be noted that Congress MLA Roshan Baig was accused of having taken Rs 400 crore and not paying it back. An 11-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DIG BR Ravikanthe Gowda took up the case and arrested the firm’s auditor Iqbal Khan and seven directors.
