Kerala Food Festival till 30 June at Hotel Regenta Central Deccan

Chennai: Hotel Regenta Central Deccan at 36, Royapettah High Road, known for conducting innovative food promotions and events kick started ‘Kerala Food Festival’ set to run till 30 June at its Olives Multi Cuisine Restaurant for lunch and dinner.

The food fest was inaugurated by industrialist and film producer, managing director – Medimix Group, A V Anoop. Chef Saraswathi Viswanathan hails from Kerala. She will be preparing delicious meals along with executive Chef Arun for the Kerala food fest.

“My father Narayanan is my inspiration,” says Saraswathi. “He used to experiment in cooking variety of dishes. My mother Rugmani also cooks traditional foods.” She adds, “My husband Viswanathan and my sons support me a lot in this journey. Above all, with the grace of God, I have reached this stage.”

During the fest, the management of Hotel Regenta Central Deccan felicitated and honoured Chef Saraswathi Viswanathan with an award ‘Samayal Kalai Arasai’ in the presence of general manager of the hotel, R Gowri Shankar. “I dedicate this awards to my father, who always support me and he is my pillar of my life and passion in cooking,” said Saraswathi.

The festival offers traditional Kerala cuisine like parippu vada, ulli vada, kozhukatta, ela ada, unniyappam, vazhaipoo cutlet, undanpori, ethakka appam, koon kurumulaku, upperi avial, thoran, olan, kaalan, kootu kari, mezhukkuperatti, idichakka thoran, kaaya tholi thoran and many more. The food fest is on till 30 June at Olives multicuisine restaurants and the buffet costs Rs 888 per person. It is opened for lunch from 12 noon to 3 pm and for dinner from 7 pm to 11 pm.
