Chennai: Aruvam is a commercial horror entertainer. It will convey a string message, says filmmaker Sai Shekhar.
Produced by Tridents arts Ravi, it features Siddharth and Catherine Tresa in lead roles. Speaking about the film, the director says, “Siddharth plays a food inspector and Catherine Tresa plays a school teacher who doesn’t have the sense to smell.”
On his part, Siddharth, whose recent film Sivappu Manjal Pachai managed a decent run at the box office, said,”Aruvam is not a regular horror film. It is an out-and-out commercial entertainer.”
Siddharth plays an angry young man who gets shocked for all evil things happening around him. “The screenplay will be interesting and there are enough engaging moments in the film. It addresses an important issue,” said Siddharth.
“My character has a disability of not having the sense of smell and this attracted me to the script instantly. The character with a low inferiority complex doesn’t feel happy about her life until she finds a purpose,” explains Catherine Tresa.
The movie also stars Kaali Venkat and Madhusudhan Rao. Cinematography is by Ekambaram and music is by SS Thaman. The film will hit the screens 11 October.
