Indian Oil aims to expand in Tamilnadu

Chennai: State owned petroleum refining company, IndianOil has planned to set up 2615 new retail outlets and expand the capacity of various production units at its existing plants, the company said in a statement. The company has bottling plants in Coimbatore, Trichy and Erode which it plans to expand. Currently the company has commissioned a bottling plant in salem with a capacity of 120 TMTPA has been at Rs 90 crore.

‘The company is augmenting the storage capacity of its bottling plant across the state to meet the demand for the product in the current year.’ It said in a press release. ‘1500 MT’s of storage was added to Puducherry and Trichy bottling plants and 3150 MT at Madurai and Erode bottling plants’ it added. The company will also be investing a total of 210 crores to expand its capacity in Tamilnadu alone. With the setting up of a 700 crore plant in Vellore the company would be able to generate jobs for people of Tamilnadu and Puducherry.

Executive Director – IndianOil (Tamilnadu and Puducherry), P Jayadevan held a meeting with media to address about the various initiatives Indian Oil has taken in the areas of customer care, infrastructure development, new marketing initiatives, among others.

He said that, in LPG IndianOi’s Indane has a market Share of 58.1 with the sales of over 1250 TMTs of product during the last fiscal. ‘In the current year we expect to sell 1316 TMTs,’ he said. ‘Out of the total number of LPG distributors of 1598 on industry basis, IndianOil has 851 distributors. Out of the total number of 238 lakhs LPG customers of in Tamil Nadu, IndianOil has 136 lakhs Indane customers.’

He then spoke about IndianOil One, a unified mobile app for fuel needs of customers with options for refill booking, payment, tracking available for Indane customers of all India. Currently around 8 lakh customers are registered users, he said. Refill booking thru WhatsApp facility was launched by Chairman- IndianOil in October at Vizag wherein customers can book Indane cylinder through WhatsApp by typing ‘REFILL’ from their registered number to 75888 88824.
