Chennai: Four more persons have tested positive for the coronavirus disease in Tamilnadu.

With this, the State has a total of 42 COVID-19 cases, including two persons who were discharged after treatment and another who died.

From today, the Tamilnadu government will carry out a door-to-door checking in and around the areas where coronavirus-hit persons stayed. Special teams have been formed for the purpose, according to Beela Rajesh, Tamilnadu Health Secretary.

The government will implement a containment plan on Sunday which includes demarcating 8 km zone in the radius of the locality where positive patients lived before being shifted to hospitals.

Beela Rajesh said, “5 km will be the containment zone and the remaining 3 km will be marked as the buffer zone. One health worker has been allotted 50 houses and every household in the zone will be covered on Sunday.”
The health workers would go door-to-door and check people with symptoms of cold and fever and provide them with masks, she said. The state has so far tested 1,500 samples of which 1,435 are processed and 65 are under process.

The Tamilnadu police have booked around 9,000 persons for violating the prohibitory orders under section 144 that are in place in the state. According to reports, the police also registered 7,119 cases on Saturday against those who had violated the curfew rules in force in Tamilnadu.

Around 5,500 vehicles have also been seized by the police on Saturday. Thiruvannamalai district topped the list of violators with 903 people being arrested and 772 vehicles seized by the police on Saturday.
