Chennai: From tomorrow, the Koyambedu vegetables, fruits and flowers market, which emerged a big coronavirus cluster, will function from Thirumazhisai on the city outskirts.

Today, officials were busy with last minute arrangements to ensure that another cluster doesn’t emerge from Thirumazhisai, after the market is shifted here.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami held a meeting with top officials and reviewed steps taken to avoid crowding. He directed authorities to maintain social distancing and take strict action against violators.

The bustling market during the lockdown was sealed off after the spurt of Coronavirus positive cases across the state linking the wholesale hub.

Meanwhile, most of the small vendors are facing social stigma among neighbours as they had contact with people working in Koyambedu market
