New Delhi: With 1,27,510 fresh infections, the lowest in 54 days, India’s Coronavirus caseload rose to 2,81,75,044.
According to Union Health Ministry data updated this morning, the country’s Covid-19 death toll climbed to 3,31,895 with 2,795 fresh fatalities.
Also, 19,25,374 tests were conducted on Monday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of Covid-19 in the country to 34,67,92,257.
The active cases were recorded below 20 lakh after 43 days. They have reduced to 18,95,520 comprising 6.73 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 92.09 per cent.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 2,59,47,629, while the case fatality rate has increased to 1.18 per cent, the data stated.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It went past 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and surpassed the one-crore mark on 19 December. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on 4 May.
The Health Ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
