Around 30 shops were gutted as a major fire broke out near the Thiru Kutralanathar temple in Courtallam in Tamil Naduâs Tenkasi district on Friday after a gas cylinder exploded in one of them. Officials said there were no casualties.
According to sources in Courtallam, there are many temporary shops set up to attract tourists who throng the town to get drenched in the famous waterfalls. The peak summer season, which witnesses massive crowds, usually lasts till July.
