The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted light rain in Tamil Nadu and a few other southern states till November 18. According to the IMD morning bulletin, light to moderate rain is in the forecast in Tamil Nadu between November 12 and November 18. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning or gusty wind can happen in the state on November 14 and 15.
Similar forecasts have been made for Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Mahe, Puducherry, and South Karnataka, among others.
The Met Department stated in the bulletin that the rain activity would be due to easterly/northeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal prevailing over south peninsular India. It added that rainfall would reduce in south peninsula over the next two days before a fresh spell begins thereafter.
On Saturday, Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram and Ramnadu in Tamil Nadu recorded 3 cm of rainfall, while other districts in Kerala like Kottayam received 2 cm of rainfall.
According to the Met Department, Ramanathapuram district received heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday. Thangachimadam in Tamil Nadu received 15 cm, while life in Mandapam was thrown out of gear by 14 cm rainfall.
