Chennai, Jan 23 In a concerted effort to combat the growing menace of mosquitoes in Chennai, Mayor Priya recently spearheaded a crucial review meeting focused on mosquito control in the city. The mayor, along with key officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), discussed and implemented measures to tackle the mosquito issue, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility.A pivotal outcome of the meeting was the directive given to the Vector Control Department of the Chennai Corporation to initiate widespread fogging across the city. Fogging is a commonly employed technique to disperse insecticides, targeting areas prone to mosquito breeding. This proactive step aims to reduce the mosquito population and mitigate the risk of vector-borne diseases.
Mayor Priya underscored the significance of community involvement in the fight against mosquitoes. Residents found responsible for allowing breeding grounds for mosquitoes within their homes will face fines. This move aims not only to curb the immediate mosquito population but also to create awareness among citizens about their role in maintaining a hygienic and mosquito-free environment.
